TIPS: Get Your Skin Ready for Spring

Laurie DePina, licensed esthetician and owner of Euphoria Skincare, gives us her "Must Have" beauty treatments to get ready for warmer weather.
1. Glycolic acid peels- A gentle, but highly effective method of removing dead, dry skin left behind after the harsh winter. Evens out skintone, clears acne, helps with pigmentation, leaves an overall glow.
2. Full leg and bikini wax- Not only will you have smooth legs and bikini line for 4-6 weeks, but waxing is also an excellent exfoliating treatment. And you won't have to keep tugging at your bathing suit for fear of something poking out.
3. Eyebrow sculpting- I know it sounds so basic, but honestly a good shaping can easily take 10 years off your face. Be sure to go to a pro, not just any nail salon that does waxing in "the backroom". Always go to a licensed esthetician, we'll take the time to consult with you and give you that perfect arch.
4. Sunscreen- A good sunscreen of 35+ is imperative for your face.
Especially after your glycolic peels, as they leave your skin exposed and photo sensitive. Many of them have tint built right in. Titanium Dioxide will also give you a great glow. As I always tell my clients, a tanned face is an old face!! There's nothing wrong with looking 40, unless your 26, and look 40!! Save your skin even if it's just for vanity purposes.
5. Seaweed facial- Nothing is more hydrating and kind to your skin than seaweed. It dramatically increases hydration and balances the skin. The results are instant and dramatic.
6. New makeup- Nothing looks fresher than a new shade of lipstick or a beautiful new shadow pallette. I love the new bright colors for summer. They're perfect for day or night. A wash for daytime and layer it on for evening. Add a pair of false lashes for extra drama, and take off another 5 years off your face.
7. Spray Tan- Not the booth, but hand applied with an airbrush. There is nothing pretty about a sunburn, or blotchy skin. Not to mention the risk of skin cancer. Besides, who has hours to bake at the beach all day anyway? In 5 minutes you can get a gorgeous tan, without any risks whatsoever.
8.Pedicure- Yes, again this may sound basic, but nothing looks worse than dry cracked heels and unpolished toes. Seriously, a good pedicure and a bright polish goes a long way. In between appointments be sure to keep up with your heels with a foot file sold in salons or at Sally's.
9. Brazilian Keratin Straigtening System- This is a miracle for frizzy, unruly hair. I now literally wash my hair and comb it. It dries perfectly, as if I spent an hour blowdrying and flat ironing. Zero frizz!! It also helps with curly hair by removing 80% of the curl. Dont know why anyone with beautiful curly hair would want to straighten it but whatever. One thing though. Not all systems work the same. I had it done last summer and it worked well but I still had to blowdry and flat iron. This time I went to Studio 63 in Norton, MA. They use Rejuvenol, and it's perfection. Prices start at $150.00 and go up based on hair length, thickness, etc.
10. For men, back waxing- Nothing says I could care less how others view me quite like a hairy back. Just cause you can't see it doesn't mean we don't notice it and cringe, eww. A waxed back only should take about 20 minutes to perform, and could very well last all summer. Stop being a wimp and make an appointment.
