TIPS: Oscar Hair & Makeup Rates

Stylist Phillip Bloch has dressed Sandra Bullock, Drew Barrymore and many more starlets for the red carpet. He was also the one who found Halle Berry's infamous Elie Saab gown that she wore to accept her Oscar in '02.
Bloch sat down for an interview with The Thread and broke down an actress's costs for getting ready for an award show. He says an actress typically spends between $2,500 to $5,000 for Hair & Makeup.
Other Fees:
- Stylist fees: $1,000 to $1,500 a day for Bloch's services. (He says he'll most likely spend two days working on an Oscar dress.
He also said other stylists claim to charge $5,000 to $6,000 a day, but he doesn't believe them.) - The Dress: $5,000 to $20,000.
- The Shoes: $700 to $1,000.
- Hair and Makeup: $2,500 to $5,000.
- Jewelry: $100,000 to a few million
Total Costs (according to Bloch): $115,700 to a few million.
Actresses actually sometimes borrow their gown, jewelry and shoes which would then reduce his estimate to no more than $10,000 (BIG difference!).
