Katie Cazorla is the star of the new reality show “Nail Files” on the TV Guide Network and the owner/founder of "The Painted Nail" in Los Angeles. The show premieres on June 21st and our entertainment correspondent Pebbles stopped by her promotional mobile nail spa to talk to Katie about the new series and got a manicure while she was there!
Pebbles: The immediate impression I got of you is that you LOVE your job.
Katie: I do, can you believe it? I actually love my job. I get to make people’s nails look glamorous and then in my store I give them free cocktails so it’s like a free nail bar. You get free drinks and your nails done. So you pay for the nails and we give you the cocktails. 
Pebbles: Was the show your idea?
Katie: No actually, I opened up my nail salon and then within 3 or 4 months I did a grand opening and these producers approached me and said ‘we would love to talk to you about doing a show, this is the craziest store we’ve ever seen. We can’t believe this is a real place.’…and I said no, I’m not going to do a reality show because I don’t want to like get a bikini wax on camera and make out with a random in a hot tub. They were like ‘no, it’s gonna be good, we promise.’ And I was like, well I’ll give it a try and now it’s bonkers.
Pebbles: The producers are the same producers that do the Jersey Shore?
Katie: The original guys that approached me were independent. The guys created the show and then they pitched the idea to 495 and 495 are now the main producers.
Pebbles: It’s nice because there are so many hair shows so it’s nice to have a nail show. What are your hours like at the salon? I know you’re married to a very successful producer, how do you juggle everything? (Katie’s fiancé is Walter Afanasieff, a Grammy-winning producer who's worked with Mariah Carey, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston)
Katie: We’re engaged, we’re not married yet. I think we’re probably going to be engaged forever because weddings freak me out. It’s a lot of paperwork.
Pebbles: So you’re not the bridezilla type?
Katie: Oh my God, no. I can’t even go to a wedding, I have cold sweats. I’d be the one with the sneakers, running out the door. Like the jilted Japanese bride who threw herself out of a window.
Pebbles: So you both must have crazy hours…
Katie: We do, he’s always in the studio 16 hours a day and it was hard because we couldn’t really film there because some of the artists were like no way. I’m in a vocal booth and like Josh Groban’s not going to be like “yeah, I’ll be on your nail reality show.” And for me I was filming all day at the store and it’s like God, by the end of the day I have like an hour left just to try not to think about anything.
Pebbles: So what are some of the things that we’re going to see on the show, it will obviously be you with your staff, will your boyfriend be on the show too?
Katie: You’re going to see Walter, yeah. He’s a big part of my life and you’re definitely going to see some mayhem that happens in the store. Here’s how I put it- anyone that owns a business, it doesn’t matter if it’s a salon or whatever, if you own a small business and you have all women as your staff, need I say more? Then you throw free drinks and a nail salon in the middle of Los Angeles into it, it’s like you don’t have to fake anything. It’s like crazy meet crazy.
Pebbles: Is it filmed in the salon because right now we’re at a mobile spa?
Katie: We’re done filming so this is all about the promotion for the show and we filmed almost 75 days straight and it was all salon, at my house and going out with my friends.
Pebbles: I understand Kyle from Real Housewives (of Beverly Hills) is one of your clients?
Katie: Yeah, we have Taylor and Kyle and Kim...
Pebbles: Now will you have the craziness that’s on that show on this show as well?
Katie: Here’s the thing, I don’t even know what they’re going to show because I just filmed and they could like do anything. They could make you look like a total bizz-notch or they could make you look like some angelic saint but I feel like with me I am the way I am 24/7 so I don’t think they can try to make me look any other way otherwise it would be with my mouth shut in a corner not saying anything, and that is never...
Pebbles: Tell me about some of the current nail trends, things that you see. I know you’re very into sparkle, you can do some sparkle on me.
Katie: Do you want me to do Stiletto with Stalkarazzi? It’s one of my favorites ever. I love sparkle, I love anything that brings attention to your nails, and a lot of people are doing all nails one color except the ring finger. So they’re doing all silver and then they’ll do the ring finger sparkly blue. It’s very trendy. [In People Magazine], I did a whole column about nail trends and all of that and there’s a picture of Vanessa Hudgens and she has her nails done all glitter and then her ring finger is a different color. We do that in my store. She started that trend, in the Painted Nail.
Pebbles: Who are some of the other celebrities who have great nail style?
Katie: Oh my god, Vanessa Williams gorgeous, gorgeous nails. I love Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives.
Pebbles: What did you think of Katy Perry’s nails of the Royal Wedding?
Katie: We have a nail printer in my store and literally you and I can go to get manicures and take our photo in front of the machine and put our finger in and it prints the photo onto your nail in 20 seconds. I had Hoda and Kathie Lee on my nail 2 weeks ago and a glass of wine on my thumb, and I was like look, it’s the Today Show. And then I’ve done Walter on my nail and Snooki has come in and put zebra print on her nails.
Pebbles: Well the show sounds so exciting, I will definitely be watching.
Katie: It’s on TV Guide Network, it premieres June 21st at 10:00 and you’ll be able to see episode 1 and 2 back to back.
