The Makeup Show NYC took place May 16th and 17th and we went opening day. The doors opened at 9am and when we arrived at 1pm the lines were insane. Makeup Forever had a line literally around the entire Pavilion, understandably so because their products are amazing.
Inglot and Crown Brush also had very long lines. Inglot is a new line launching here in the USA. The colors are incredible. They have what they
call the Freedom palette. You mix and match your colors, sizes, etc. It's a pretty cool concept and aside from Yaby Cosmetics, I don’t know of any other Pro brand that offers this feature. I wanted everything! I chose to avoid the line and will place an order online. Crown brush had some sweet deals to be had as well. I have never seen so many makeup brushes in my life. They had a never ending line of all us Makeup Artists salivating over the prices!
Kryolan had some new items they debuted at the show like the Viva Palette which features beautiful and unique
colors. The amazing Pashur was doing live demos of his jaw dropping bodyart. Mehron and MAC also had some pretty inspiring body art. Graftobian (one of my personal faves) had some great show deals. Their lip palettes and foundation palettes are a must have in any makeup artists kit.
Smashbox also had some great deals at the show and L’Oreal was giving away some pretty impressive swag bags which included 2 full size mascaras, 2 HIP eyeshadows and some lip glosses. I didn’t see any other companies giving anything away. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics had their hugely popular Lip Tars on display and I thought I overheard someone say they were sold out after a few hours!
There were many other companies there- some I heard of and some I had not. All in all it was a great time. I think the vendors should consider hiring more counter help. It's so busy that I think they actually lose out on a lot of business from impatient people such as myself. The long and short of it is this, if you’re looking for education and inspiration you WILL get it there. If you’re looking for a quiet afternoon browsing the aisles and looking for deals- not for you. I do look forward to next year however. I will just arrive at 9 am, and pray for smaller crowds.
