The Day Spa Expo & Business Forum
by Allison Watson

I attended, for the 1st time, the 5th Annual Day Spa Expo and Business Forum on March 15, 2010 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. It is a small, but quaint show. It is more for the Salon/Spa owner, but very friendly for the individual licensed professional. The Day Spa Association (DSA) provides the attendees with an educational program to help you with new and improved ideas, unique marketing concepts and networking opportunies to grow your business. Attendees had the option of paying for a package or pay ala carte for classes. There were also complimentary sessions with several speakers on the main floor.

Walking the floor and chatting with the exhibitors was very imformative and fun. I stopped to talk with vendors and looked at the products they had to offer from companies such as:
• www.eminenceorganics.com: the name speaks for itself and I can't wait to try the products that I purchased
• www.jbellanatural.com: a young and small family owned company from Agoura Hills, CA
• www.eyedews.com osingle eye mask (I made the owner take a bite to proved it was natural. She said not too tasty, but natural
• www.solerra.com: the company is based here in Las Vegas and is a sunless tan line that has consumer friendly ways to apply it yourself or a spray system that you have done in a Salon/Spa

There were a few manufacturing companies for spa equipment, facial instruments, spa beds, pedicure spa chairs and computer software. I took an interest in www.spafinity.com they had beautiful spa pedicure thrones that were very different, in a good way.

Thankfully there weren't too many exhibitors selling the costume jewelry. I am not a fan of seeing that at nice shows like this. It unfortunately brings in some riff-raff.
Which brings me to tell you about the attendance of this show. While the economy may be affecting trade show attendance in general, I found that the up-scale professionals were still present at this particular show. For more information on this and future events visit: www.dayspaexpo.com.

I really enjoyed myself. Thanks for reading my blog.
